Excluding the night b4 when we moved the equipment, it should be Day 1, 14hrs (0800 - 2200) and Day 2, 5hrs (0700 - 1200) so abt 19hrs. the rest of the afternoon of Day 2 was judging and public viewing.
Someone correct me if I got the time wrong but I'm pretty sure it's around 20-24hrs at the most.

Buy ur own food, own time own target but don't forget how many times it took u guys just to buld our stage towers also the lashings have to last 2 days n hundreds maybe even a thousand ppl walking across/up & down ur structure.
6 - 8 Scouts per team I think, No Ventures they have their own catergory.

If I'm not wrong. There are 3 categories for National Pioneering Com. Bridge , Tower and Totem Pole.
Each group is given an area to build. Bridge gets the biggest and Tower next..for obvious reasons. On application your area can be made bigger. If you exceed the area you can/will be disqualified. See 2nd and 3rd picture.. if I can remember correctly they got disqualified because they overshot their extended area.
Food and drinks are self bought at anytime you feel like. Total build time would be around what Shaun said.
Day 2 late afternoon is judging time. Judges base on design, safety, tightness of lashings etc etc. I remember a super fat guy walked to our bridge and shook the living hell out of it.
After judging the public is allowed to view your structures and even climb it. The public can even climb the towers if the judges think that the structure is safe enough.
Think there might be requirements for teams, like 2 Sec 3s, that kind of thing but I'm unsure (seems unlikely). 6-8man depending on structure.
Oh yeah...the further your plot of land in Bishan Park (if it is still held there) the worse because you will have to lug all your poles and ropes there.
I forgot about totem pole. But all I remember are the schools setting them up, do abit of touch up and then leaving.

Then are the ventures forming a team for themselves aslo? There is a venture catagory too. I believe that the bridge that was disqualified was built by ventures. As for our ventures forming a team. No idea. But best to leave them to study for their O Levels.

Hey guys I can't help but get this feeling that u guys think there is a Pioneering competition coming up.
Let me clear this up, as far as I know there is no Pioneering competition coming up, there was one last year but b'cos of a miscommunication we missed it so there probably won't b 1 till next yrs earliest.
The reason I started this thread is to show the difference in standards between our Unit and others and even between our Unit then and now.
Things like the tightness of the lashings and making them last over-night and with lots of ppl climbing on them. I have been here for 11 yrs and I have ppl in our Unit saying that it is not possible to tie the lashings so tight.
1. I have seen it done before.
2. I've done them before.
So it is not impossible.

There is actually an interesting/funny story behind this tower, I think it's by the Cat High Ventures. AS part of the judging cateria, points are given for how close ur actual structure resembles ur model. The original design of this tower was suppose to be straight up but at the end of it their tower was alittle off but instead of wasting time, 1 of them thought to just change the model and make it work. In the end I think the got extra points (and a gold award) for their design. A good example of thinking out-of-the-box.
