Should we have our own Unit scarf?
It is not a new idea, I think Mr Chan SF bought the idea up unofficially b4 a couple of yrs ago though he was not in favor of it the years b4 that but brought it up again along with sewing a large version of the Frank Sands badge on the Unit flag since a lot of Units have Unit scarfs like Cat High and St. Andrew's.
JunRong brought the idea up to me again the other day and he (and whoever else he works with) will be giving me a design concept.
But I think we should all have our say and give ideas.
For me, I thinked like a black scarf with whit trim and the Unit badge on the back.
You guys?
P.S the Poll will have NO major bearing on wheather we will have a Unit scarf or not. The decision lays with the Unit Leaders and a face-to-face vote (if it comes to that).

I think it is a great idea, it builds a stronger sense of belonging (to the scout unit). However, we have to make sure we don't spend too much money on the unit scarf. Also, in events like PLTC, units scarf may not be allowed, so scouts might have to spend more money to buy two scarfs(unit and national).

Black scarf with Yellow trim Just like our badge Which should be at the back I'm partially colour blind but the Troop badge is dark blue/navy I think but I like the design idea. Anyway even if we do have a Unit scarf, the National scarf will still be a requirement and during Investiture the National scarf will be use, to remind the Scouts that they are part of a bigger movement so I have no idea when the Unit scarf should be presented or allow to start wearing. Ideas? Also the Scouts will have to coordinate which scarf to wear during meetings if not very funny red with black patches or black with red patches, I think u get the idea. It's the same thing w/ t-shirts now, like some wear the School t-shirt, Crux t-shirt and the black Standard Camp so the Unit these not look very united. Take the Ventures for example.

Actually the cords and lanyards that we use, i.e PL/Venture Lanyard and the QM and Specialist cords r not a formal/official part of the Scout uniform they are part of our own Units traditions and ways to help distinguish (give recognition) members of the Unit.
So cords and lanyards of different colours have different meaning to different Units.
In fact even Unit Scarfs r not really part of the Scout uniform though HQ is not too picky abt this except at some events like when President Nadan was first invest as Chief Scout, we had to take off our lanyards and Ventures vests.

I'm on for it. I have proposed this idea many years ago while I was in school, but there were certain concerns such as money, design and at events where it could be worn. But, I feel, all these can be solved easily and having the unit scarf will show the uniqueness of the Unit and creates a stronger sense of belonging.

Why don't we initiate a design competition for the unit. Or perhaps the boys can submit their hand drawn or computer generated designs to us for vetting.VENTURE SCOUT LEADER 2006 CRUX VENTURE UNIT
